Great Scott! Doc Brown builds his own minifig and portal for Lego Dimensions

Something strange is going in in Hill Valley. A mysterious parcel has been delivered to Doc Brown’s lab, and he’s determined to figure out what it is, and who brought it there. Luckily for the doc, it was dropped off by an ordinary courier and its cargo is mostly harmless. In fact, the only thing that its contents could possibly damage is Doc’s productivity level. It’s a Lego Dimensions portal, complete with the newly-revealed Doc Brown minifig.

We sort of figured there was a Doc Brown Fun Pack in the works, what with Lego already having shown us Marty and his hoverboard. Christopher Lloyd dusted off the old lab coat to record the latest trailer for Lego Dimensions. It gives us a glimpse at what it’s like to play the game using the Doc: watch him fight alongside Wyldstyle, do battle with Sauron’s armies, and go for a ride in scaled-down version of the Jules Verne Train.

While we didn’t get to see Chell or some Doctor Who stuff in action, Warner and TT did show us a whole slew of DC heroes and villains — including Superman, Bane, Joker, and Harlequin. They’re all getting their own Fun Packs and Team Packs, and you can see what those look like, too. Just jump over to the gallery to check out all the new sets that Lego revealed today.

Here’s some more good news for those of you who can’t wait for Lego Dimensions to arrive. Just like Doc Brown, Dimensions expansions will be masters of time travel. Packs that get released next year will still work with the original game and portal that’s launching this September. They’ll also work with all your actual Lego creations, too, because they’re not molded or permanently frozen in place by the Kragle.
