The new Kwik-E-Mart set is a lot like the Simpsons’ House. There are just over 2,100 pieces in the box, and it’s an incredibly detailed scene. The store’s shelves are fully stocked with overpriced goods, and there’s a fantastically detailed Squishee machine. In the back of the store, you’ll find Jasper trapped inside one of the coolers. A couple of doors to his right, there’s a stash of Buzz Cola — and you build them, they’re not screen printed on the cooler door.
The roof of the Kwik-E-Mart is open so you can just reach right in and play or stage scenes, but it also hinges open like the House. That’s how you get at all the cool bits tucked around the sides, like the heat lamp hot dog cooker, the security cameras, and the cash machine.
Now, how about those minifigs? You can’t have a Kwik-E-Mart without someone to run it, and Apu is the right man for the job. You also need someone who’s going to try to rob it on an almost daily basis, and Snake has always been reliable that way. There’s even a getaway car for him: Chief Wiggum’s cruiser.
Customers are generally a good thing for a store to have, too. Someone’s got to pay $24.95 for that bottle of aspirin that’s been tampered with, Marge. When he’s done vandalizing outside, Bart can cool off with a jumbo-sized Squishee, and Homer, well, he’ll buy just about anything — as long as it’s not the ice cream that Apu was sitting on.
The Kwik-E-Mart will sell for $199, and it’s packed with cool little details. Check them out in the gallery while you wait for May 1st to roll around, Simpsons fans!
